Perry was born on the 25th of July 1968 in Chicago In Illinois, she was the child of Laurie Metcalf Perry and Jeff Perry. Her first television appearances were as Jackie Harris on ABC's sitcom Roseanne. Her mother played her role. Because of their fear of stress, the parents were not keen to let her pursue acting before she turned age 18. Perry states that she did not want to become an actor during high school, but she decided to begin acting as a social activity at Northwestern University when she switched from Boston University. Perry began her career as an actress in New York after graduation, getting small parts on Law & Order: Criminal Intent. However, the feeling of homelessness made Perry come back to California and pursue a career as an actress in the theater. The Other Place was performed by her and her mother on Broadway in 2013 Perry was in Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer Prize winner Anna Christie as well as Kevin McKidd. This was presented at West Los Angeles' Odyssey Theatre Ensemble. Perry was featured nine times on the ABC drama The Family, in 2016. In 2017, Perry played a supporting role in ABC's thriller about politics Scandal in which her father was the main character. She played the younger Mary Cooper (Sheldon Cooper's mother) in Young Sheldon. This spin-off show of CBS's The Big Bang Theory was another portrayal by her younger mother. The actress was chosen for the role in spite of her strong relationship with the character's family.
