Silk was born Fredericton in New Brunswick Canada. Ilkay is the daughter of Peter, an educator and an accomplished actress and playwright. Peter was educated at St. Thomas University. Anna remembers the earliest moments of her life when she went to see her mother during play rehearsals. Silk appeared as a little girl in numerous commercials. She graduated with a Bachelors degree in Arts at St. Thomas University. Theatre St. Thomas has produced two shows in its beginning: Seven Menus and The Kitchen. Silk moved from Toronto in November 1999 and moved to Los Angeles during the next decade. She met her future spouse, Seth Cooperman, at an acting training held in Los Angeles, in 2007. The couple got engaged in 2009, then wed in a civil ceremony in December of the same year. They renewed their vows April 10, 2011 in Fredericton, after the bride converted to Judaism.
